We all know about labour exploitation in fast fashion. Fewer people realise the same issues can exist in luxury. Investigations in recent years have shown that even high-end, expensive handbags are often made in exploitative conditions, including in Europe. At LOUÉ, ethical labour is one of the foundations of sustainability. There's no point making the most sustainable handbag in the world if the person making it isn't treated fairly. That's part of the reason why we produce in Ubrique, Spain, working directly with our artisans as partners rather than through anonymous supply chains. We know all our artisans by name, and we treat them with the respect they deserve. LOUÉ couldn't exist without them.
