MIRUM®
MIRUM® by NFW is the world's first fully plant-based and plastic-free leather alternative based on natural rubber.
ELEVATE
ELEVATE by Uncaged Innovations is a revolutionary leather alternative made from plant protein derived from grains..
Stainless steel hardware
We use stainless steel hardware for its lower environmental impact, lasting shine and recyclability. The Gold variant is plated with 18K gold via PVD, a non-toxic method.
Recycled polyester thread
After exploring countless natural threads, recycled polyester is the best performing for our current applications.
Materials we avoid
No animal-derived materials. No leather, fur, wool, or exotic skins, our materials are entirely plant-based.
No conventional PU "vegan leather." Most vegan leather on the market is plastic, PU (polyurethane) coated on a fabric backing. Ours isn't: MIRUM® and ELEVATE® are made from plants and natural inputs.
No PVC. It's a petroleum-based plastic that doesn't biodegrade and can release harmful chemicals during production.
No cotton from regions with a high risk of forced or child labour, including Xinjiang, China. Our cotton is sourced from Turkey, traceable to verified, ethical standards via GOTS certification.
No PFAS - linked to long-term environmental and health harm. Where water repellency is needed, we use PFAS-free DWR.
Anti-Deforestation Policy
No deforestation-linked materials. The natural rubber in our leather alternatives is FSC-certified, and so is all our packaging.
Circularity
Our leather alternatives are biodegradable, and so is our organic cotton lining. The finished bag, however, isn't. To create a structured, high-quality bag that lasts, we use synthetic structural reinforcements and edge coating, and the industry doesn't yet have biodegradable alternatives that perform. Realistically, virtually all handbags end up incinerated regardless of material, since the recycling infrastructure to properly process them doesn't exist yet either.
So instead of making claims the technology can't support, we focus on what we can control now: choosing the lowest-impact materials available, and crafting handbags that last for a long time.
